What is Mad UX all about?
The UW-Madison User Experience Design online capstone certificate (“Mad UX”) provides you with introductory through intermediate user experience skills to plan, design, and assess innovative digital user experiences via digital applications and media.
How long does the Mad UX certificate take?
You can complete the certificate entirely online, within one calendar year, allowing for balance of your education, work and life. The certificate is composed of 3 classes of 15 weeks and one short capstone class of 4 weeks. The courses build off each other and reinforce your growing skills.
What skills will I gain from the Mad UX certificate?
In the Mad UX certificate, you will gain the skills and credentials you need to develop as a UX professional:
- learn theories, techniques and tools of digital design
- practice assessing user satisfaction with digital media
- practice different prototyping techniques
- collect and analyze data about users, user needs and use environments
- work to improve the usability, accessibility, and pleasure with which people interact with digital spaces over periods of time.
Who is Mad UX for?
The UX certificate will accommodate both existing computing professionals whose expanding job responsibilities require a deeper understanding of user experience design, and people new to the technology workforce seeking introductory skills in user experience design.
What are online classes like?
Our courses are high tech and high touch: As a Mad UX student, you join a cohort of motivated learners and move through the program together as a community. You will bond with your cohort members and work with them and with expert instructors, in all the certificate courses using the latest in collaboration, conferencing and project software.
Courses are structured into weekly modules with weekly due dates to help you stay on track while allowing for flexibility in getting the work done.
You will be supported throughout your time as a Mad UX student by a team of instructors, the Mad UX teaching assistant and the program coordinator. We will work with you to troubleshoot issues and keep you on track to certificate completion.
